“When We Started The Band We Drank Chateau Shitface…”

How did I not know about this? I am so out of the loop!

Did y’all know the little Dirty River Boy boy has his on web tv show about fine wine? No, seriously…check it. It’s for real. I just learned about it today. The title of the show is Vino with Nino which is brilliant. Come to find out, Nino grew up on a winery.

You probably won’t find many “Outlaw Folk-Americana” musicians who are as interested in — and well-spoken about — wine as Austin musician Nino Cooper.

When he’s not playing and touring with his band, Dirty River Boys (they just played Willie’s July Fourth picnic), Cooper explores the wide world of wine (and music and food) in his new “ Vino With Nino ” web series that thus far has featured guests including Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist from Band of Heathens and Ashley Monical and HalleyAnna Finlay from a local band called The Wildflowers .

“I’m no wine expert critic, I’m just a guy who loves wine and who loves music and I want to share that passion with you,” he says in the intro of several of his videos.

Hearing him talk about a recent dinner at Fabi & Rosi in this episode with his bandmates , watching this episode, which includes smoked meatloaf and Chilean sea bass skewers , and reading his Twitter stream , it sounds like he’s a foodie, too.

Cooper is six episodes into the series, and I look forward to seeing what musical guest he brings in next.

I don’t drink wine. All of my friends do and it seems like something I would like…I have just never had a taste for it. I do like sangria and champagne with lemonade, but I don’t think that really counts as wine. I haven’t had a chance to watch any of the videos, except for the last one posted, Episode 8: Ray Benson & Kym Warner. You can watch the video below…and I hope you laugh at Ray and his naturally taking the hosting duties away from Nino on his own show like I did.

The best part is the side by side photo-op and Ray says, “I’m nuts over you”. (Get it?)
