I don’t think I have ever seen a Straggler show without seeing Roger Ray on stage too. Well, Roger is moving on and he let all the fans know via his Facebook page:
Just so everyone hears it from me: February will be my last month with Jason Boland & the Stragglers. I will be leaving the band to go on tour with Casey James to support his debut record which will be released March 20. Having been with Jason for 13 years (since day one) this has been an extremely tough decision for me … but I’m ready for a change. I hope everyone understands there is absolutely no bitterness here … I’m just making this move in anticipation of something different and exciting. You only live once! Thanks to Jason, the band, the crew, and the management for all they’ve done to make my life a blessed and charmed one through all the years.
And there you have it. I agree…you only live once, so good for him.
If you aren’t familiar with Casey James, he was the much cuter, much better tooth’d Bucky Covington looking kid from last season’s American Idol. Also…I am not 100% sure about this family tree, but a girl I went to high school with named Sara is married to his aunt’s brother…or something. I just wanted to throw that in there.

Wish the best for him but not being a fan of change, I’m sad! Guess I’ll have to figure out who this Casey James guy is now.
This is the worst thing ever. Ray is a bad ass and Casey James sucks ass. I can understand wanting a change, but Casey James? he wasnt worth a shit on Idol. and he plays the guitar (which was the only thing he had going for him except his girly looks )as good as any guy who plays in clubs, nothing special. JB and the Strag Hags have been my favorite band in the entire scene for many years. Their identity is partially bc of Roger. Not that JB wont pick up some other guy thats good but still, im pissed.
