Music Fest 2015 is nothing but a distant memory but spring is soon to be sprung which means the official start of “Festival Season” in Texas is upon us and the line up for this year’s Chilifest hit the inter-webs Friday night.
If you missed it…here you go:
Friday, April 10
Cody Wayne & Westbound 21
Shane Smith and the Saints
The Dirty River Boys
Ray Wylie Hubbard
(This night isn’t open to the riff-raff, just for the VIPs and the Chili cookers.)
Saturday, April 11
Marshall Tucker Band
Josh Abbott Band
Eli Young Band (headliner)
(General admission riff-raff welcome)
Wait, did I read that correctly?
That dude that was 1 of 17 dudes that wrote Florida Georgia Line’s biggest song and decided to be a country music singer after he couldn’t get into the NFL and left his dream of being a NASCAR driver to be on a reality tv show and after getting voted off the island decided country music was his real passion?
Are you asking yourself, self…how does THAT guy get booked on one of the biggest Texas Music festivals of the year located smack dab in the middle of the anti-bro-country heart of Texas Music die-hard manfan-land where the people in the audience literally chant FUCK NASHVILLE until they run out of beer, pee on themselves and pass out?
I will let you all in on a little secret.
His management company is the same company that also manages the Eli Young Band and the Josh Abbott Band, two “Texas-centric” bands that are on the bill.
So there you go.
(I will say I saw a Chase Rice performance last year at the Windy City Smokeout in Chicago and the kids did seem to dig it.)
