Passing Backstage With The Turnpike Variety Troubadours

Hi Evan!

*Waving*

The last time we joined the Turnpike Troubadour boys on TxmusicTv they told us that “Gin, Smoke and Lies” was just about a bird. This time, during their Texas Music Scene “Backstage Pass” segment, we learn that “Morgan Street” is the story of the characters at their favorite hometown pub named Crowbar that just happened to be located on Morgan Street. Also, the song “Southeastern Son” (my personal favorite just because it is a waltz and how do you not love a waltz?) is the story about some guys that joined the National Guard to pay their bills and ended up deployed.

And now you know!

I missed Turnpike when they did their first show in Waco last month but I shit you not, we still get calls and emails and tweets about that show. People have NOT stopped talking about their performance and their music gets requested every day on the show. I think that is very, very cool…and I also think they should come into the studio one morning, bring me Diet Coke and Donuts, and sing on our acoustic stage.

Who do I need to talk to, to make this happen because I will have my people call their people? I will even forgo the Donuts…but just this one time because a big girl needs her gluten!
