The Band We Don’t Speak Of has a new video that debuted this morning for their song “One Star Flag”. Since every time I speak of The Band We Don’t Speak Of random drama for other people who don’t hate me always ensues, I wasn’t going to speak of it…but I have to because this video stars my Texas Women gals Ali Dee and Brooke Jeter!
The song is an up tempo Charlie Daniels’ish ditty about riding the rodeo that mentions Texas, trains, whiskey, and Fort Worth. It ain’t so bad. I tapped a toe or two. Even I can’t hate a fiddle solo like that. Also, if you noticed there is just enough of the magic light to know this video was done by Evan Kaufmann.
Ali plays “the girlfriend” part and Brooke shows off her roping skills.

How is it you know so much about the video if you hate it so much?
Casey is the top of the heap right now. That is a fact. It doesn’t matter if your music snob ass doesn’t like him. More people like to cut loose and have a good time than contemplate suicide over deep fucking lyrical poetry at $20 a ticket.
People work hard, and want to play hard. Casey gives us that opportunity. So shut the fuck up, because there are way more of us than there are of you, so I doubt Casey is going anywhere until he is damn good and ready.
And Melinda, if you are reading this, which we all know you are, I have a message for you. Keep being hot as hell and keep driving Casey to give us more. And please ignore the shit out of the vocal, and incredibly envious, minority.

The scene is taking a turn for the better with bands like the Turnpike Troubadours, Dirty River Boys and The Damn Quails. It isn’t being a music snob either and if you say they are you don’t know what you are speaking about. If you have seen any of those three acts perform it is far far far from snobby or depressing. They are different and talented and being innovative. People that are under the age of 16 are the ones that are going to CDB shows and even that is starting to fade. People are over it. Did anyone hear about the crowd at Wolfdance? It was pathetic and they lost money. People are over songs about white trash from Texas and beer. Will the kids still show up to his shows? Sure they will but he isn’t getting any younger and at what point is it just gross for 15 year old girls screaming for a 35 year old man? He isn’t Kevin Fowler who has a fan base of all ages and can really entertain.
At the end of the day who cares? You are right. They have made money off of people like you OYFGSMFD and pooled it into the business plan. They will always have a steady flow of cash but they will never have the respect of their peers that worked all these years to support their love of music and families that paved the way for him to even have a following. That is the truth and because of that they will always be criticized. Those dollar bills better help buy thick skin.
