Awwww…how presh is Evan the singing guy? Mommy likey. I might have to add him to my Pool Boy short list. I am hoping to start interviewing for that position just as soon as I get a pool. He’s so cute with his kind eyes, crooked trucker cap that looks like it is about to fall off of his brown curls and his tucked in pearl snap shirt. I think I am just jealous because I haven’t been able to tuck a shirt in since the late 90′s.
Where was I?
Oh…the Turnpike Troubadours were featured on this week’s Texas Music Scene and they performed their first single off of their Goodbye Normal Street, “Gin, Smoke and Lies.”
Just 41 seconds in we got a few Whataburger cup sightings, but I couldn’t find the infamous Whataburger sack that is always strategically placed on stage. I THINK I saw it on the left back speaker, but I am not sure. This mystery object was in some of the shots, but not all of them.

What do y’all think? Sack or no sack?
I really want to go to one of these tapings. I want to be the Production Assistant that has the sole responsibility of sack placement. Ray, do you think we can make that happen? I won’t let you down.

I drool over Ryan Engleman, steel player. alas he is married so i try to remain respectful ;)
Mrs. Ballou,
I will ruin the mystery for you. The set is littered with Whataburger sacks, cups and koozies while the bands load in, check lines, and run through a song or two. Then a Production Assistant removes the Whataburger items before the actual performance. We shoot another session in October in San Marcos. Come down and we’ll let you “Whataburger up the stage,” as we say on the set. Set photographer Todd Purifoy will take official Texas Music Scene photgraphs to validate the event for your loyal fan base.
Yours faithfully,
The Texas Music Scene
