It looks like it is officially official!
I have never been either a Little Big Town fan or hater, honestly I never paid them much attention other than to make the easy joke about the blonde looking like Big Bird…until “Pontoon” came along. That is one of those songs that before it started getting played on the radio 8 times an hour, I considered a secret little guilty pleasure that I would never admit to liking, even if I did. DID…meaning past tense. When I hear it now it makes my ass pucker, but not because of the actual song but because it is played so often.
Now that LBT has officially recorded Adam Hood’s “Front Porch Thing” it is time for all of us to make the obvious comments about how we only like the original just like we did/do with EYB’s version of Will Hoge’s “Ever If It Breaks Your Heart” and Kenny Cheesey doing Keith Gattis’s “El Cerrito Place”. (I won’t even bring up the whole Jason Boland/Kid Rock fiasco.)
Go ahead. We are all going to say it, so lets use this opportunity to rant all about it. I’ll wait.
Ok…times up.
I am tickled pink that Little Big Town recorded “Front Porch Thing” and want to know why? It is because I LOVE Adam Hood! I hope this song is a HUGE mainstream country single and Adam makes more money than he knows what to do with…because the more money he makes, the more songs he can WRITE. The more money he makes, the more gas he can buy so he can play more shows! We all win! I know we hate it when a mainstream artist covers one of “our” singer/songwriters songs, but I’d much rather hear this song on the radio than some shitty shit about a pickup truck.
Here is Little Big Town’s version:
Here is Adam Hood’s version:
My only issue is…when did the title “Front Porch THANG” turn into “Front Porch THING”?

We have to be happy for “our” artists cause they are about to get boatloads of money which means they can right more amazing songs and play more shows!!! Congrats to Adam Hood! That’s so awesome!
or WRITE* whoaaaaa, it’s been a long day at work!
I am all for this. Kudos to “our guys” getting the attention we know they deserve. We know guys like Adam aren’t going to sell out to the mainstream but if they can take a little off of the top of the Nashville pop music fund, I am ecstatic. I would much rather hear a Nashvile version of our songs versus the next version of PO PO or boom boom. At least the lyrics to our songs don’t make me want to jab rusty scissors in my ears.
Hey, two Adam’s sitting next to each other. Adam hood on the left, and Adam Greenwood on the right.
