Texas Music Chart review time! Guess what is happening on the ole chart this week. Well, not a whole hell of a lot.

We only have ONE new entry this week and it belongs to the Randy Rogers Band with “One More Sad Song”. I will admit this one is growing on me. When I first heard it I wasn’t sure…I don’t LOVE it by any means, but I don’t hate it. It really doesn’t matter though, it will be #1 in about 4 weeks. I’d much rather it be #1 than some other songs that are slowly creeping up the chart so the bands get their money’s worth.
As always, that You Tube comment section beats the dead “sell out” horse into the ground…but a little drama never hurt a song. I’d rather people talk about my song than not give enough of a shit to bother debating it.
This song is the one that I heard Randy do in Waco at HMBAWT before the big bad fire department ran us all off. I’m looking forward to hearing a recorded version of it…without all those jackholes yapping over it.
That’s the sad, tortured Randy I love.
I am not in the mood to do the same old recap because honestly I have posted about the same songs over and over for weeks, but here are some my standouts.
The Six Market Blvd. boys have broken into the Top Ten for their first time ever with their song “Say It”.
I have always loved these boys and how can you not love a singing Ginger from Evant, Texas? You can’t. This song is much too hard aka “loud” for me, but then again I am old and I’m too irritable most of the time to enjoy a good guitar solo face melting. I’m proud of these kiddos.
Bart Crow’s first single “Little Bit of Luck” from his upcoming album is in the top fifteen already. I’m glad because its happy Bart.
Did y’all know that Bart and I share a birthday? Now you do.
I love love love love this song. Drew Womack’s “Sunshine To Rain” is up two spots to #40.
I know nothing about the GRO peeps, except for what I learned about them on Troubadour, Tx. This song “Dancing Shoes” isn’t that new because apparently it has not only been being played for a while on SiriusXM station as well as being featured on Young and the Restless.
That song is a lovely little ditty with plenty of the harmonica necklace and it even name drops Emmy Lou Harris. I am assuming it is Emmy Lou Harris. All these guys look like they need a snack pack and a nap…and a hairbrush.
We have a brand new #1 song in Texas this week with Cody “I ain’t scared of no Rita Ballou” Johnson with “Guilty As Can Be” or what I like to call the “Murder Song”. No wonder he isn’t scared of me…Cody will shoot a bitch.
(The song doesn’t start singing until around the 24 second mark. Stay with it.)
Now that right there is a good old-fashioned cheating country song. Mommy likey.
Checklist time!
