Behind Frienemy Lines: New Music

I know what you are all thinking, enough of all that damn talking Josh…we want to HEAR something. Well, your wish is his command….read along with Josh about his journey and make sure you get all the way to the end!  Josh has a treat for you.

Happy Tuesday all!  We are just days away from TV show and new music!  We have pressed up 200 ‘sneak peek’ copies of the EP that will be available at shows until they are gone.  We are getting all the final artwork together as we speak, and the songs should be on iTunes sometime next week, but don’t have to wait that long to hear it!  I’m going to preview as song a day for the rest of the week!

Today’s preview track is called “Price Of The Dream”.  It’s actually going to be the last track on the album, but it’s the track that means the most to me.  This song is the one I played the night Wade Bowen asked if he could introduce me to some of his people in Nashville.  His introductions led me to meeting Tim Dubois, and in turn, me signing my first publishing deal, recording this EP, and appearing on Troubadour TX show this fall.

As you’ll hear, the song is about a guy who has to leave the town he lives in to find work.  I think I’ll leave the rest up to you.  I could tell you exactly what it means to me, but sometimes I think that can get in the way of a song.  I will tell you as a musician I am very familiar with the emotion of leaving my family for work, and this economy has forced a lot of folks other than musicians to have to do the same thing.

As far as production, we went with just vocal and guitar because of how intimately the two worked together.  As you’ll hear in the coming days, the new stuff has a huge sound and is very produced, so I thought this would be a great point of contrast as the last track.  Me and my guitar.  Me and my song.  The only way a lot of folks know me.

So as far as the EP goes, lets start at the end.  Go to www.joshgrider.com and click on the audio player (the ‘tune in’ button) and you can hear “Price of the Dream”.  I’ll put up a new song each day this week and I’ll post to FB and Twitter when I do.  Can’t wait for you guys to hear the new stuff!

Holler at me,

Josh
