Behind Frienemy Lines: Acoustic Tour…

I forgot to post Josh’s blog from last week. My bad. Let’s catch up with Josh Grider THIS week!

ACOUSTIC TOUR!

I type this week’s blog from the passenger seat of Ben Danaher’s van. We are out on a week long acoustic run through Texas. Last night kicked everything off at Molotov in Austin with Ryan Beaver. I have to say, every time I’m around him I find myself saying “man, he is such a great singer!” He just signed a pub deal in Nashville too, great hangin’ with him. Ben and I have Gruene Hall tonight with Drew Kennedy, Fred’s North in Ft Worth tomorrow, Church St BBQ in College Station on Thursday, and The Tin Cup Sports Bar in Huffman on Friday.

I left Nashville last Wednesday to do a two day run with the Texas Troubadour folks and if you are on twitter or facebook at all, I’m sure you noticed that we got to roll in a bus. It was my first time for a bus run and I’ll tell you right now, if you can afford it, that’s the way to go! We opened for Wade Bowen in Corpus and then for Roger Creager in Laredo. Big shout out to Tiny (a man who was anything but) that took me to Taco Palequena for a pirata in Laredo. Delicious! Matt Caldwell and I used Zane Williams’ band and we all shared the hour opening slot. That didn’t leave much stage time, but Zane’s guys did a great job working our stuff up and nobody got hurt, so all in all, great success! The Troubadour TX folks were there filming a lot of it, so hopefully those that couldn’t attend will get a glimpse of what it was like.

This acoustic run is also serving as a makeshift radio tour. Lone Star Highway has been released to radio and already getting played around Texas. We’ll get to stop in and see some radio folks…perhaps even one Miss Ballou!

So much is going on right now! I’m grateful for it all. Hopefully you can make it out to one of our acoustic shows, especially considering we have one time only available EPs of 5 songs Ben and I wrote. They are just acoustic/vocal work tapes we recorded at my house, what the recording quality lacks is made up for in the material.

We’ll probably get some video shot for everybody this week. Check out the Cracker Barrel Games video on my website. We shot it from the run last week. It’s footage of Caldwell and I facing off in the tee game at Cracker Barrel in Arkadelphia, AR last week.

Okay, that’s it for this week. Hope to see you soon.
